Any fabric gets its finish

No fabric is just woven fibres. It alsways receives a finish which determines its performance in the final application. "Finish" summarizes a large selection of processes which can modify a fabric such as dying, hydrophobing, fibre texturing, silan coating, pu coating.

Usually liquid chemicals are applied which usually are very harmful.

Plasma treatment can vary the surface of fibres and of fabrics in many respects without using hazardous chemistry.

Hydrophobing provides water repellent textiles. Activation can improve adhesive performance. Consequently silan coatings adhere much better or eventually are no more needed.
